Tell Me About Your WIP -- and Win!

You saw I finished the top of the art quilt I've been working on... I had some pieces of the center panel left over after trimming it to fit the outer border, and those pieces were almost exactly postcard sized! So, in honor of my ONE MONTH (!) blog-aversary, I'm giving away these:

I just have to finish the edges, probably just overcasting with blue. A couple of the couched yarns fray a lot, so I dabbed on a little fray check first. Once it's dry, I'll finish these off before moving on to the next thing on my "to-do" list.

Want to win? Comment on this post and tell me a little about a "work-in-progress" in your life (quilting or otherwise) by September 10. Assuming more than three of you care, I'll randomly draw names for the winners.

My work in progress right not is my quilting room, which is the garage in my new house. Not getting much done it is 125 inside the garage right now.
I love what you did with these and would love to win

Hey, my work in progress is ALSO my sewing room. Last weekend I work up with the wild idea to play musical chairs with my bedrooms, move my bedroom into one of the smaller rooms and turn the master bedroom into my sewing space. Today I made a trip to IKEA (on a Saturday--what was I thinking?) with my mother in tow and, among other things, I bought a visually smaller bed. I was afraid my largish four-poster was going to fill the smaller room . . . now I'm ready to start moving beds, sewing machines, clothing, fabrics, worktables--it is the LABOR day weekend, after all ;-)

I have loved your skinny curved piecing since I saw those squares in Grand Rapids. I'd love to win one of my very own.

Well, MY WIP has nothing to do with quilts at all. I decided a few weeks ago that what my heart really wanted was to spend every dry, hot, gross moment (and about $15000) digging out the gravel, sod, clay and HUGE freakin' rocks out of our front walk/door yard, and putting in a stone patio. The cobbles get delivered next Wednesday, so there's no real prospect for any quilting/knitting/anything else WIP until at least the week after next. But it'll be grand sitting on the bare stone, enjoying the fall weather. Of course furniture would be nice, but we've uh, blown the budget for this year.

Check out my blog for all the gory details.

Seems like I have new WIPS coming up constantly! A lovely fabric begs to come home and be made into a pillowcase for a dear uncle: jewel tone noodles are fast becoming swirling flying geese in an Amish-feel Dutchman's Puzzle quilt and I'm teaching my daughter's 19-year-old boyfriend to quilt: he's completed 9 of the 18 blocks he's designed for a red and black twin-sized quilt! Charity quilts are ongoing for both my guild and my bee, and I also cut fabric for my guild's Community Outreach block kits for other members to piece together, not to mention the swaps and birthday blocks in our forum! I LIVE in bolts, fat quarters and every size in between...
Please add my name to those who adore your work and would love to win a card. I'll keep my fingers crossed!

Where to start? But ok, I'll pick one - and this one is appropriate, because I am going to have to finish it. About a bajillion years ago, I started this cute baby quilt from a M'liss Rae Hawley FQ project in some magazine, only I decided to do it in b/w with a few accent colours. Did all the basic blocks, but they all require pieced (or appliqued, I suppose) quarter circle in the corners, and I just put it aside to work on later...

Well. So tonight DH utters the dreaded phrase - you don't happen to have any spare baby quilts put aside, do you - which usually means someone at his work is about to go on maternity leave and he's decided the day before they leave that he, being the boss, should probably give them a gift, and as his wife is a quilter. You see where I'm going with this.

As it happens, I DID have a baby quilt put aside for just such an emergency, which is good for the woman whose last day is tomorrow, but of course, there's someone else who has about 3 weeks left. So, a quick rummage through my WIPs reminded me of this black and white and coloured quilt, which will take a lot less time to finish putting together than starting something new - mainly because I won't have to spend hours picking out fabrics.

Of course, I will then have to make a few more baby quilts to put aside for future emergencies!

This was long. Sorry about that. Photos on my blog of the quilts today (the one I had to hand) and later this week (the other one).

My work in progress is a baby quilt I started for my son when I was pregnant. He is three now, and soon his feet will no longer fit under this starry log cabin quilt. How ironic that I started it in Quilt-In-A-Day class at the LQS. Why can't I get that binding on and call it a day? Leslie
